By mirektiNovember 22, In: Cameras. I have some footage in 24fps and 60fps, and my timeline is set to 24 fps. I was under impression my 60fps footage would be in slow motion i. Resolve will automatically make 60fps slow motion and 24fps would play at regular speed as the latter matches timeline settings. What would be the proper way to have my 60fps footage play at 24fps timeline in slow motion? At the moment it plays in 24fps at regular speed I assume Resolve automatically drops extra frames?Ford f150 cranks but wont start
You need to conform to 24p. I am sure it is done similarly. I just change the playback speed of the clips in the timeline. Right-click on the clips you want slowed down and it's called something like Clip Speed, set it to whatever percentage you want ignore the fps box in that pop-up - it's wrong and makes no sense and choose if you want to ripple the sequence or not, and it's done. I don't know how other people do it, but I think this is one of the great features of Resolve.
You can ingest footage of any resolution and frame rate into your timeline, you can change the speed of any clip to any arbitrary speed, and then you can export a file in any other resolution and frame rate and Resolve will handle the whole thing seamlessly. If you're doing any speed changes where you aren't doing a of input frames to output frames, you can enable a feature called Optical Flow in the main page of the project settings, down the bottom and it enables the Twixtor style of frame interpolating for any sequences in the project that aren't The work I do is just for myself and friends and family and isn't critical, but I just do whatever speeds I like and if I want a shot to go a certain duration but I want the shot to start on a certain action and end on another one then I just choose whatever percentage makes that happen.
As long as you're not pushing things too far then the effect is normally totally fine. I found it under Clip Attributes. I simply changed it to 24p and it is playing in slow motion now.
I'm finding Resolve to be frustrating. I feel overwhelmed. But I'm trying to finally rid myself of Premiere and Adobe's shitty subscription model once and for all.
Google, reddit, youtube, etc. I just started 2 days ago. Nodes is ok for color but I'm hating it for fusion right now. I think there are two paths you can take. If you learn best by doing then that's a good approach, but I think it's frustrating and you kind of miss out on the big picture about how Resolve works and how it's designed to be used. My understanding is that the overall workflow is different to other packages. The second one is to watch a thorough walk-through of the user interface so you can see how it's organised and what is available.
If you're going to do this then find the longest and most thorough walk-through possible and just watch that. There's nothing worse than watching a walk-through that isn't thorough and then having to watch another one where they repeat everything you just learned!
Good luck - it's a long process but a worthwhile one IMHO. Put on some music and attack it in bursts with good breaks. When doing slow motion in Resolve, you are going to want to go in to your project settings the gear in the lower left and look for the retming settings. However, the playback can be a bit slow and thus make the whole workflow a pain. But there is a one-click solution that will make your life much better. When I found out about it, my editing process became much faster.
In the media pool, either in the Media or Edit tab, when right clicking there is an option called Generate Optimized Media. It will essentially create proxies out of the original footage making the playback of any imported clip much smoother and faster. For those of you who are more familiar with DaVinci Resolve The second solution is by rendering the cache. This is achieved by selecting all the clips in the timeline, then right clicking on them, and choosing On under Render Cache Clip Source.
There are two main differences between the two. The other difference is that rendering the cache is done for what is in the timeline. How many of you actually use Resolve from start to finish in their projects? I'd love to hear your thoughts in the comments below. The problem I find with making optimized files or rendering to cache is that you're using system resources. I prefer to simply drop the monitors to half resolution. Even on a crappy Lenovo laptop with an Intel graphics processor I can get smooth playback. I really love what BlackMagic has done with Resolve - except for that multipurpose edit tool.
